This week I am thinking about the importance of reading the room, how we don’t shed past versions of ourselves but instead continually build new ones around them like the rings of a tree, actual cranes in the sky and Solange’s Cranes in the Sky, freestanding tubs in the bedroom, the long-awaited return of Phoebe Philo, MSCHF’s Big Red Boot campaign with Sarah Snyder, reading my signed copy of Rick Rubin’s “The Creative Act” and making it to Rick Rubin’s beanbags, Future announcing he is in album mode on my birthday, how Atlanta has been the dominant region in 21st century hip hop culture which means the dominant region in American music culture which means dominant region in American culture which means dominant region in global pop culture, shopping for grown man pieces, and that one news clip of T.I. trying to dissuade Atlantan rioters in 2020 where he ended his spiel with the most earnest “Dis Wakanda”.
