If you are, for some reason, using this newsletter to keep track of the weeks, you should know that, although it’s the 24th week of the year, this is my 23rd letter. A few weeks ago, when we had that long holiday weekend, and I sent the letter on Monday instead of Saturday, I sent the next within 7 days but not within the proper calendar week. My bad. To make up for this, and to get back on track for 52 letters in 52 weeks, I will simply double up in one of the coming weeks and put everything in it’s right place (*Thom Yorke voice*).

I’m back in Boston after five days of family fun in D.C.. I ate and napped indulgently, broke in the new Rimowa, checked out the much-hyped and unnecessarily controversial Philip Guston show at the National Gallery, sat in on John Akomfrah’s Purple, got my Gen Alpha cousins their first and potentially only disposable cameras then had to explain what “developing” “film” meant (I’m not sure they totally understand but am especially interested to see what kind of pictures they took), played several games of Guess Who and left with a winning record, made the obligatory African-American pilgrimage to see the Obama portraits IRL at the National Portrait Gallery (Toni Morrison’s was the most impressive in the whole collection, in my opinion), and came up on some Purple Label cashmere and a deadstock Denim & Supply shirt at an irresistible discount, thanks to my good family over Ralph Lauren. All in all, a very solid, wholesome time.
