Week 17

I’ve been watching Alone this week, where people happily go into deep wilderness, like the Arctic circle or some remote Canadian island full of bears and cougars only accessible by helicopter, with only ten survival items and a GoPro, and film themselves trying to survive longer than their nine competitors (from what I’ve seen, winners all survive for at least 90 days). Absolutely insane behavior, but makes for great television and armchair expert analysis. It has reinforced my fear and respect for nature’s deadly indifference, heightened my appreciation for humanity's ingenuity and grit, and affirmed my proclivity for a life of leisure and luxury.
